At Alberta Ballet, we believe the arts are the most powerful when more people can participate. Through our sponsored ticket programs, we partner with immigrant-serving agencies, caregiver networks, and community organizations to provide complimentary and reduced-cost tickets to individuals and families who may otherwise face barriers to attending the ballet.
These programs create a more welcoming and inclusive audience that reflects the rich diversity of Alberta. Every sponsored ticket is more than admission to a performance - it is an invitation to connect, belong and experience the joy of live dance.
Our Programs
Welcoming Newcomers
A cornerstone of Alberta Ballet's community impact work since 2019, our Welcoming Newcomers Program has connected thousands of immigrants and newcomers to Alberta Ballet performances in the Jubilee Auditorium. The evolution of this program has been guided in partnership with immigrant-serving agencies. Over the years, we've seen firsthand how shared cultural experiences help newcomers feel connected to their new communities, a finding that is also echoed by research on belonging and integration.
Access Dance in the Theatre
Alberta Ballet partners with youth-serving agencies to deliver dance and ballet classes in ways that reduce barriers to participation. Whenever possible, students are invited to attend a professional ballet performance, connecting their studio experience to the artistry and inspiration of the stage. The invitation helps students gain a deeper appreciation for dance, and, more importantly, shows students how they are part of the larger vibrant community.
Caregivers Intermission
Caregivers dedicate so much of themselves to supporting others that opportunities to rest, recharge, and enjoy shared experiences are often put aside. Through our Caregiver's Intermission, Alberta Ballet provides complimentary tickets to frontline healthcare workers, creating space to step away from daily responsibilities and enjoy the restorative benefits of live performance. Participants consistently report reduced stress and lasting benefits to their well-being.
Canoo
In partnership with Canoo, Alberta Ballet offers reduced-cost tickets to eligible new Canadians in Edmonton and Calgary. Canoo helps newcomers discover and engage with the people, places, and cultural experiences that shape Canadian life, making Alberta Ballet an accessible part of that exploration.
